This exhibition is called "Free and Unfettered – Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy by Au Ho-nien". When I mention Au Ho-nien, I think we all know that he is the representative figure of Lingnan School of painting, and he is also the third generation successor of this School. His teacher, Chao Shao-an, is renowned for his outstanding accomplishment in art. Today, we are much honored to organize an exhibition for Professor Au Ho-nien, who is a distinguished disciple of Chao Shao-an.
For the last few decades, Professor Au has been actively advocating Lingnan School of art, nurturing many art students in Taiwan and overseas.
With generous support from Professor Au Ho-nien, his art collection of 105 pieces of works is made available for this exhibition. His works cover four major themes of Chinese paintings, namely Landscape, Figures and Flowers, Animals and Birds, and lastly Poetry and Calligraphy.
Through this exhibition, we hope to introduce to our citizens the outstanding artistic achievements of Prof Au Ho-nien, the legacy of Lingnan School of art, as well as the general characteristics of Chinese art.
This exhibition is held at the Hong Kong Heritage Museum until June 17th 2013.
